Biodiversity-friendly products and gardens to enhance biodiversity and nature conservation in the cross-border region

The Pannonian P&G (Products & Gardens) project aims to preserve biodiversity and strengthen nature conservation in the Slovenian-Hungarian border region through the sustainable use of native and traditional plants. The project is a response to habitat transformation, the spread of invasive species, and biodiversity loss, which are common challenges on both sides of the border.

As part of the project, four educational gardens will be created in Prosečka vas, Pártosfalva, Szentgotthárd, and Vörösmajor, where only native or traditional plants will be presented. These gardens are not only exhibition spaces, but also places for knowledge transfer and awareness raising, offering practical examples for local communities, farmers, and educational institutions.

One of the innovative elements of Pannonian P&G is the introduction of the concept of “biodiversity-friendly products,” which involves the development and promotion of products whose production does not exceed nature’s carrying capacity. Through cross-border cooperation, the project contributes to strengthening the ecological connectivity of the region, promoting sustainable lifestyles, and expanding economic opportunities based on local values.
